Dr. Pimsleur was a researcher in applied linguistics and focused on the process of language learning. He created the Pimsleur audio series, which are widely regarded as the authority on language learning audio resources along with the US government's FSI's audio tapes. Pimsleur's efficient method will introduce you to a language by placing you into a situation where you must participate and talk back. You will listen and repeat while picking up useful phrases with excellent pronunciation. As new material is introduced, it is tied in with the previous lessons in such a way that forgetting material is minimized, such as building upon older vocabulary/phrases or recalling older phrases at a specific timed intervals.

The series is provided by Simon and Schuster. The recommended method of use is to go through only one, and only one, lesson per day, repeating as necessary to understand a majority of the material. If you stick to this schedule, you will easily pick up the spoken language.
